The CHBA is a three-level organization. When you join your local Home Builders’ Association, you become part of our strong collective voice locally, provincially and nationally. All three levels work to advocate for the building industry at their various levels of government depending on the issue at hand.
Each level of the Association works with the government at their level. And because many housing issues involve multiple levels of government, we frequently collaborate to ensure a consistent approach towards real solutions that will benefit consumers.
Topics being tackled by the CHBA South Okanagan board of directors and members include permitting processes and BC Step Code implementation. The CHBA South Okanagan Board of Director’s and the CHBASO Builders Advocacy Committee meet regularly with the municipalities to work towards a common goal - strengthening South Okanagan relationships in the building community.
Hosting networking meetings, industry seminars and professional development workshops, we work to ensure our members voices are heard by local government and ensure that our members are informed on trends and issues affecting their business in the South Okanagan through member-only e-newsletters. Our Board of Directors meet 8 times a year and address various industry issues affecting the South Okanagan.
CHBA BC deals with a wide range of provincial government regulations and policies that affect members, their businesses and their customers—from codes and standards, to health and safety, infrastructure financing, the environment and consumer protection. Provincial conferences and awards programs give members an opportunity to meet and network with peers from across their province. CHBA BC Board of Director’s and special committees work throughout the year on important issues affecting our industry in this province. Committees include Government Relations, Technical Research and Renovators Council. Members are encouraged to participate on this platform and have your voice heard.
